Review - Hansel and Gretel get Baked 2013
Hansel and Gretel get Baked is a whole bunch of gory fun. While certainly a horror-comedy, it is a bit more serious than the name would suggest, which is something I, personally, really like about it. It also delivers fairly nicely on blood and gore as well. The acting is fine, the story is pretty solid, a couple of small, fun twists but mostly it’s pretty straightforward.
Hansel and Gretel get Baked tells the story of a new, very intense strain of weed called “Black Forest High”, little do the teenagers know, their supplier is really an evil witch and the weed is little more than her bait. Gretel’s boyfriend goes to restock their supply, and when he doesn’t come back and she can’t reach him, she enlists the help of her brother, Hansel to find him. Their search leads them to the witch, and they aren’t the only ones…this seemingly sweet little old lady has a hell of a lot more than teenagers to deal with tonight! What with the police as well as 3 “tough” men (who drastically underestimate her), not to mention, the man from the power company! Hansel and Gretel get Baked is a truly surprising film, darker and gorier than I initially expected and definitely funny, but nowhere near as silly as the name would lead you to believe. Highly recommended to any horror lover, but especially those who also happen to be partial to weed ;).
