Review: The Children 2008
Total honesty, I practically forgot all about this fantastic film when I started writing these reviews…I was actually looking for a movie poster for a different review and stumbled across this utterly perfect and astonishingly beautiful poster and was reminded of “The Children”. I saw this movie about 6 years ago (RIP Schlockbuster), and I absolutely loved it! Now, of course, you have to accept at the start that, yes, this movie deals with children and it’s not going to be easy to watch if you can’t just detach and find a way to see the awesomeness and the creepiness and actually enjoy it all.
“The Children” is about a family that gets together for Christmas at a remote cottage..somewhere..in England, unfortunately for this family it seems that the children are infected with a very sinister virus. Beginning with typical symptoms like vomiting, the sickness then escalates and the children become increasingly volatile, and eventually violent and seriously disturbed. This movie is all kinds of awesome, it’s well directed, well acted, well scripted; the kids are cute and creepy, and what they do is just so delightfully twisted and wrong!
Be warned though, yes kids will die in this movie, it’s bold and I respect that.
