I saw this one last night and it was just brilliant! It’s only rated PG-13 and that’s a totally appropriate rating. I think it’s the tamest slasher I’ve ever seen, it’s also funny and sweet and that detracts from it being particularly scary…although it still manages to have brief moments of intensity. It’s fantastic!

By the way, since I know she’s likely to be one of the only people to actually read this, and today is her special day! Happy Birthday Aunty Sue!! Hope it’s awesome! Thanks for reading my reviews!
(and yes yes, Mother, I know you’re reading too :p)

So basically The Final Girls is a magical adventure that begins in present day, then, via vague happenstance, our main characters find themselves WITHIN a movie. And not just any movie, an 80s slasher movie! There is a definite poignant side to this movie, the main character loses her mother, who was a struggling actress. Her mother was most famous for “Camp Bloodbath”, an embarrassing 80s slasher she did over 20 years ago. And, of course, “Camp Bloodbath” is the movie in which our main character and her friends find themselves. So our main character is, in a way, reunited with her mother, and it’s so sweet! This movie follows the traditional “slasher rules”, and therefore the only person who can kill the killer is a virgin girl. Of course, “Camp Bloodbath” is already set up with the “Final Girl”, a tough virgin who is supposed to be the last one alive and the one to kill the bad guy…However, with the new, unexpected “characters”, the movie doesn’t go as planned…things go from bad to worse and the virgin dies! Now they have to improvise! And it’s awesome. Like I said, for a slasher this movie is TAME, there’s plenty of deaths but most are done comically and there is very minimal blood/gore, aside from it being a big point of discussion, there is no actual sexual content or nudity, though this movie does contain two marvelous “strip teases” (one is more of a sexy dance with no stripping, the other had so many things to take off that we don’t actually see anything!), one is hilarious and fueled by “Adderol” (behavioural medication, similar to “Riddlin”), while the other is actually so poignant and beautiful. I highly recommend this film to pretty much anyone, it’s got everything, including a brilliant ending and some stunning cinematography!
